Holy Cow Batman...

Tandy: We only have 2 1/2 weeks until we're married. 2 1/2 weeks to finish pulling off the biggest party I will ever throw. 2 1/2 weeks to mentally prepare for this life altering commitment we will be making. 2 1/2 weeks until we leave for Mexico. Did I mention we only have 2 1/2 weeks?!?!?!?

People keep asking what we have left to do and how can they help. Answer to question one is... I don't know. There are copies of our to-do lists on the internet, on my work computer, printed out at home, in my purse... yet I have no idea what we have left to do! My brain is starting to go numb. And answer to question two... I can't remember what I have left to do so I cannot tell you what you can help with. :)

But you know what? One way or another come September 4th, rain or shine, perfectly planned party or no, I will become Nathan's wife and I am so excited for that!

Nathan: Just wanted to remind everyone that if you need a room we have blocked rooms at the Holiday Inn downtown and at the Courtyard Marriot (downtown in the Atlas Life Building). The Holiday Inn is literally right next door to the reception. If you look in the picture below, the building right behind the Holiday Inn is the building the reception will take place. The Courtyard Marriot (Atlas Life) is just a couple of blocks away. This is a retrofitted hotel inside a historic Tulsa building from the oil boom in the 20's and is located on probably the best street downtown.

There are plenty of other hotel choices within 15 minutes outside of downtown including a brand new Aloft Hotel as well. Click on the Plan Your Stay Page for additional information.

Nathan: We went to the church today to talk about all the final details and confirm everything for the big day. You know, it's a small little church but as we walked through it again today I thought it is the perfect fit for what we we were looking for. Just enough room for our family and friends, and a center aisle for the main attraction.

So Close...

Tandy: We are so close to the wedding! This weekend we hit the 6 week mark. Holy moly 6 weeks! There are only 10 days left for you to get your RSVP in. My dress is in and ready for alterations. All those big payments and "final" meetings with vendors start in two weeks. Man! This stuff seemed so far away before. It's definitely crunch time and we're scrambling to make sure all the details are coming together. But never fear if you know me you won't be surprised to know I have color coded to-do lists. Yes listS. But thanks to Nathans amazing help we are definitely getting things done. And while I might be a little biased... I think this wedding is going to be AMAZING!

Time is Ticking Away...

Tandy: So the past several weeks we have been working on the wedding invitations. And I think we can both agree it was our least favorite wedding project. From the hunt to find a printer that would actually work (thanks Kathy for letting us hijack your printer it was a life saver). To page set ups, fonts, to hand feeding 400 individual pieces of cardstock through the printer. Yeah... no fun. But today we finally took all of the invites to the post office. It was such a sense of relief to hand them off. They are now the responsibility of the United States Postal Service. Don't let me down USPS!!! So... be watching for an invite coming to a mailbox near you!

Nathan: Well... I guess if all of the wedding plans fell through, and none of the remaining "to-dos" were checked off, at least we know we have two of the most important things... a church to be married in and a Mexican resort to celebrate at! Looks like we're going to Puerto Vallarta, MX...

A few updates

Nathan: Just wanted everyone to be aware of some recent updates to our website including a quick redesign, more information about the Wedding Weekend, and the addition of a few videos just for fun!

Totally Psyched...

Tandy: So this week my wedding blog obsession paid off. I found a bride selling table runners for a GREAT price. This is good because my previous plan was to order 25 yards of fabric and then find some poor unsuspecting soul with a sewing machine to make them. Someone (you know I'm talking about you oh domestic one... Jeri) really dodged a bullet. :) So yeah I'm totally psyched! And yes I said "psyched". With a little inspiration from my fabulous Uncle Blaine I've decided to "like totally" bring the word psyched back to everyday vocabulary. Oh you laugh at me now. But I dare you to "like" go the next 24 hours without wanting to "totally" say it!

Shopping...

Tandy: I had a half day off today and put it to good use. I was able to block rooms for out of town guest at the Holiday Inn, order my veil and buy my shoes, garters, ring bearer pillow, unity candle, ribbon, and flowers for a craft. I owe a big thank you to my wonderful Matron of Honor for being my shopping buddy and keeping me focused. So nice to check all those things off the to-do list!

We're a Real Couple Now...

When do couples feel like they are an official couple? Is it joint bank accounts? Name changes? For us it happened today. We're officially official. We have a Sam's Club account together!!! No turning back now. :)

The Details...

Tandy: Have you ever noticed how brides obsess over the little details of their wedding. Like what music will play while guest arrive at the ceremony? Or what color ribbon will each boutonniere be wrapped with? Are the flowers the right shade of purple? The exact number candles on each table? And can you think of one single favor of any wedding you went to? Yeah me either but I guarantee that bride spent many a sleepless night deciding on the perfect favor. And now here I am. A bride. A silly bride who finds herself concerned with all these minor details. These details consume my every free thought. Thoughts like, what if the purples don't match? Should I print the stationary in bold italic or regular. I know I've officially crossed over to crazy town...

But that being said, I'll give five brownie points to the guests who notice this random detail/craft at our wedding. :)

Roxy

Nathan: This is Roxy. She's mostly a happy dog but there was always something that was missing, something that was not quite right. Then a couple of days ago I noticed a change. I realized that Roxy seemed a little different. She just seemed to be happier, like all the pieces of her doggy puzzle were in place. Then it hit me...Roxy's excited about Sept. 4th too!

I bet if people really knew what was happening to your ring when you had it re-sized at the jewelers, it would be a little harder to hand it over!

Craft Day...

Tandy: My first wedding craft and I made mom do it. :)

A Good Day...

Tandy: My mom is here and I ordered my dress and bought my jewelery. That makes me happy. It's been a good day!

A Day Off...

Tandy: I think I actually went the entire day yesterday without doing anything wedding related (despite the to-do list staring at me). And I'll admit... it was nice! Of course my day off might also be related to my newly found obsession with the iphone game "Words with Friends". Oops... I don't think Nathan is loving my new obsession with the game since I have to hijack his phone to play. Sorry honey! So I guess today I'll try and take a day off from "Words with Friends" and get back to wedding planning. :)

We Have a Date...

WOOHOO! It's official! We have a date and a reception venue. So mark your calendar for September 4th, 2010!!!

I'm a Bride...

Tandy: I tried on dresses today and I have to say... WOW that was fun! Something about putting on glamorous white dresses and being the center of attention really made me feel like a bride. I need the all important "Mom opinion" before I can make a final decision but I am definitely happy with some that I found. Oh and I finalized the bridesmaids dresses while I was at it. So that's the first official check off on my to-do list! WooHoo!!!

The First Week

Nathan: Well, we're almost to the end of the first week and like Tandy said, we are in full planning mode. We have already built binders, websites, spreadsheets, budgets, researched and viewed church and reception venues, stressed, rejoiced, got excited, got sad, panicked and felt at peace. Next on the to-do list, take the night off and just enjoy each other! I can definitely work THAT into my schedule! I'm thinking dinner and movie sounds nice...

Churches...

Tandy: So we're in full planning mode and only 4 days into our engagement. What is it they say...? "No rest for the wicked"... In my planning so far my number one question is WHY ARE CHURCHES SO DARN EXPENSIVE?!?!?!?! I mean really... 2K for a medium size midtown church? That's ridiculous! I'm pretty certain that churches pay their mortgage for the year on a wedding. So for the sake of all future brides... if you are a member of a church, give a little extra in the offering next week. Maybe it'll help a bride out! :)
